Welcome back! This week we’re going to be running down two very different types of events coming up on the schedule. The Star Wars Unlimited: Homeworlds Store Showdown and D&D Encounters: Season of Champions.
Homeworlds Store Showdown
Let’s take a look ahead at the Homeworlds Store Showdown on Sunday, November 15th at 12 pm. This is the first major event of the current Star Wars Unlimited season here at the store since it started. Store Showdowns are the highest level of casual play and equally the lowest level of competitive play. One could consider them the transfer stop between casual and competitive play. We here at Tabletop Gaming Center tend to run them as high-level casual.
Store Showdowns have specific promos for participation, Top 8 and up. The participation promo for the Homeworlds Store Showdown is a Mace Windu “Austere Centrist” promo card. The Top 8 & up promo is an Emperor Palpatine “Consolidating Power” promo card.
This Store Showdown will run similarly to a weekly premier format event–which we run every Monday at 6:45 pm, if you hadn’t heard. The only major difference is round count. The Showdown will be full Swiss best-of-3, compared to the usual 3 rounds at our weekly events.
If you’re a Star Wars Unlimited player looking to win a cool promo, come on down for a showdown!
D&D Encounters: Season of Champions
Dungeons & Dragons Encounters: Season of Champions is a new weekly play campaign event showing off the new World of Warcraft expansion for D&D. This weekly play event starts with a specific Season of Champions Celebration Event on Wednesday, November 19th at 6 pm.
The 4-week campaign, D&D Encounters: Deadmines Dungeon, takes place in the realm of Azeroth from World of Warcraft and builds upon the initial session taking place during the Celebration Event. Players can use either pre-made characters or craft characters of their own. Those involved will take on the Deadmines dungeon, facing all kinds of enemies; some classics and some new to D&D hailing from the world of WoW.
These encounters are meant to be new player-friendly, so if you’ve never played D&D before, now’s a perfect chance to learn with one of our Dungeon Masters! If you have any questions, you can come on down to the store and sign up for these weekly play events.
This week wasn’t a wordy one, but we talked about some pretty cool events. Perhaps you’ll make your way to the store and join us for some fantastic evenings of cards and roleplay. This is your usual host, Aaron, signing off on another Tabletop Gaming Center Events Blog.
